CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Intro to Yoga * 6 weeks
This course will introduce you to the basic principles of yoga poses, philosophy, relaxation and breathing techniques. Whether you are new to yoga or to The Yoga Center we recommend you take this class, as it prepares you to practice all forms of yoga with confidence and safety.

* PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED even for repeating students, as class size is limited. This class fills quickly so register early. Mats are provided. You are welcome to bring your own.

Gentle Yoga
This class is for students who prefer a less vigorous class and those who are experiencing illness, injury or chronic pain. It is also a youthing class. It promotes bone strength, balance and improved memory and concentration, all issues that become increasingly important as we age. You’ll be amazed at the power of a gentle yoga practice to prevent premature aging and to keep you doing the things you love to do!
Pre-Natal Yoga
These classes are specifically designed to help women in any stage of pregnancy keep fit and increase their energy and vitality. They will help ease the discomforts of pregnancy, increase energy for labor, help tone your muscles for the delivery, allow for a quicker recovery after delivery, help you access your inner strength and maintain a calm and healthy focus.
Yoga 1 (3 months)
This course builds endurance, strength and flexibility for continuing students who have completed Intro to Yoga. Students who are physically fit and free from injury may begin at this level.
Yoga 2 (6 months)
Building on the basics of Yoga 1 this course helps you complete the practice of breathing and postures as well as learn more yoga theory.
Yoga 3 (happily ever after)
Advanced asana variations and pranayamas are introduced along with more advanced yoga philosophy and ethics.
SATSANG (Donations accepted)
the practice of associating with saintly folks to purify, uplift and stimulate the Spiritual process.” It’s a time to connect, rejoice, renew the spirit and uplift the heart . Join us for an evening of meditation, chanting, inspiration and good company. Satsang brings joy and peace of mind that lingers long after the evening is over.
 
MEDITATION & THE MIND
As you think, so you become. This year-long course in meditation provides an education in understanding how the mind works. With such knowledge we are able to gain mastery over negative habits and develop a positive attitude toward life.

Based on the 8 limbs of classical yoga, the curriculum includes meditation skills, concentration, positive thinking, ethical behavior, and meditation. Each class will have time for education, sharing and meditation practice. After taking all 6 classes, students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

YOGA FOR STRENGTH
In this class the focus is on core strength, balance
and flow to build a solid practice based on strength
and spirit. Expect to sweat and be challenged. Suitable
for Yoga 1 students and above.
